6 week Intro to Hoop Dance/Fitness Tentative Schedule
We will start out with the basics, finding movement within the hoop and exploring off body moves that will make you feel like a hoop star in no time! Toward the end of the 6 weeks you will have found your hoop confidence and flow, and feel totally pumped for more “advanced" future classes!
Community Bonus Online support group! You will be placed in a closed private Facebook group with everyone in your beginners course! There, Abs Marie will keep you up to date with everything you have learned and support you every other day of your hoop journey, all in a community of new hooping friends to learn and grow with!
6 Week Course Tentative Schedule
Week 1: Fabulous Flow!
ON Body: We will Stop the Drop! We will learn all the secrets of “Keeping the Hoop Up,” while finding more movement in your hoop, with the three “Hoop Saves” listed below!
1.) Strong Small front to back Push from Core 2.) Turn with your “Current” 3.) Dip and Wiggle!
OFF Body: Introduction to off body movement & Hoop Dance! Tricks: Bus Driver with Expression, Orbit aka “Smear,” Round and Round, Levels, Horizontal Can Can, & the Sparkly!
Week 2: Reverse It Up!
ON Body: Exploring the outer space with Break and Reversals! Opposite Current - Continuing to find movement and practice new skills, we will dive into exploring movement with our less dominant rotation. We will be Focusing on finding movement with your hands while hooping.
OFF Body: Vertical Plane Tricks: Hand Spins, Propeller, Vertical Can Can, Weaves aka “Ninja”
Week 3: Shimmy Up & Down!
ON Body: Getting started with a great warm up, you will learn how to AMP it UP for even more fitness benefits! Then we will explore inner space with hand dips, and Shimmying the hoop up and down the body. This will start open up the flexibility to our upper body.
OFF Body: Horizontal Plane Tricks- Lasso, Whirlpool, Cork Screw,
Week 4: Groovy Paddles!
ON Body: We will start to focus on what our hands and arms are doing while we hoop, and move away form the “T-Rex” feeling and adding expression to our hoop dance! Then, to find movement with our whole body, adding in the use of our arms, we will start working on “Paddles,” and the footwork involved to help stall the hoop.
OFF Body: More whole body movement and flow with hand tricks!
Tricks: Basic Isolations, & Behind the Back Pass!
Week 5: Transitions!
ON Body: Finding Smooth Transitions from On body to Off Body with the “Peacock Off,” and the “Spiral Lift Off!” (Lifting the hoop from your waist to above your head into Lasso- Beginning stages of learning one of the most popular hoop tricks called the Vortex!
OFF Body: Tricks: Hinges, Circus Starter, Rainbow Toss, Splash Out, & the Coin Flip!
Week 6: Choreography and Hoop Jam!
We will add an extra 30 minutes to this class! Please try to come early! 6:00pm-7:45p.m.
We will review and practice everything we have learned! Then we will combine all of the amazing moves that you have learned by putting together Sequences, which eventually will turn into your “Flow.” At the end, we will Turn up the tunes and have an LED Open Hoop Jam!

- Once we start hooping together and get to know one another, class schedule might change according to everyone’s desires and needs. In other words, We will GO WITH THE FLOW! :)
